Lead Electrical Control Systems Engineer
Location: Caernarfon, Wales

A leading electric utility company is seeking a Lead Electrical Control Systems Engineer to join their Production Division in Wales on a permanent basis.

The Lead Electrical Control Systems Engineer will deliver the technical expertise required for National Grid (ESO) tenders related to market products at the business. This includes transforming Pump/Turbine Unit capabilities into income through National Grid schemes, ensuring compliance with Grid Code and tender specifications.


Key Responsibilities:
Lead Electrical Control Systems Engineer

  • Translate tender requirements into electrical and turbine/generator data. Develop and validate models for Grid Code compliance.
  • Plan, direct, and oversee resources and contractors to deliver projects in line with tender specifications.
  • Negotiate and manage contracts to support tender requirements.
  • Engage with ESO and industry groups on Grid Code or CUSC changes.
  • Ensure market product delivery within safe operational windows.
  • Implement quality and safety initiatives in all tenders.
  • Develop solutions for plant issues and create performance protocols to meet market requirements.
  • Foster a collaborative team environment. Share knowledge to enhance team capabilities.


Qualifications and Skills:
Lead Electrical Control Systems Engineer

  • Degree or equivalent qualifications/experience in electrical engineering or a related field.
  • Chartered status is desirable.
  • Expertise in generator/motor design and HV electrical system fault analysis.
  • Familiarity with Grid Code and CUSC modification process.
  • Engage with ESO & industry working groups when changes to either grid code or CUSC modifications are proposed.
  • Lead multiple work teams and experts to deliver tender requirements.
