Your new companyHays is partnered exclusively with a profitable and expanding business based in Norfolk. This business has operated in several specialist markets successfully for many years but is currently exploring new opportunities, looking to significantly grow their offering. They are currently seeking an ambitious Management Accountant that will be an essential part of their finance operations.Your new roleThe Management Accountant will play a key role in supporting the finance team with the preparation of financial reports, budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis. You will be responsible for providing management with the information they need to make informed decisions, ensuring financial control, and helping drive the company's strategic goals. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic, hands-on environment and has a strong grasp of financial accounting within a manufacturing context.Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Monthly Management Accounts - Prepare accurate monthly management accounts, including profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash flow statements for entities across the Group. Ensure timely and accurate reporting to senior management.
  • Cash Flow Management - Assist in the management and reporting of cash balances and cash flow, ensuring that the business has sufficient liquidity to meet its operational needs.
  • Team Management - Manage and develop the Credit Control and Purchase Ledger teams, fostering a culture of high performance, continuous improvement, and accountability. Ensure team members are adequately trained and supported in their roles.
  • Ownership of accounts receivable, working alongside the credit control team, accounts payable and inventory monitoring to ensure key working capital KPIs are met.
  • Financial Reporting & Analysis - Support the Head of Finance & IT in providing regular financial analysis and reports to senior management, identifying trends, variances, and areas for improvement.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting - Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and quarterly forecasts. Monitor and report on variances, offering detailed commentary on performance, with a focus on cost control and profitability.
  • Responsibility for payroll input into external payroll system, ensuring correct and timely salary, deduction and pension payments are processed.
  • Ad-Hoc Projects - Support the finance team with various ad-hoc projects, including cost analysis, margin reviews, and financial modelling for business expansion or new initiatives.

This is a full-time role, working 37.5 hours per week, between Monday and Friday. Flexible and hybrid working options are available.What you'll need to succeedEssential:

  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA part-qualified or qualified by experience.
  • Strong experience in a management accounting role, ideally within a manufacturing or SME environment.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and budgeting.
  • Proficient in the use of financial software and Excel (advanced level).
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to provide actionable insights from financial data.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to present financial information to non-financial stakeholders.

Desirable:

  • Prior experience of managing a small team
  • Knowledge of Sage 200 Manufacturing system
  • Advanced Excel user
  • Payroll system experience
  • Experience of overseas subsidiary accounting
