Michelle Denny Recruitment is partnering with a forward-thinking organisation in the financial services sector, seeking an experienced Compliance & Data Protection Officer. This role is crucial in ensuring regulatory compliance, with a strong focus on Customer Duty, data protection, and ethical business practices. Based in Diss this role offers a salary range up to £40,000 which is negotiable depending on level of experience, with working hours Monday – Friday 8.30am – 5pm, with the flexibility of hybrid working. About the role The Compliance/Data Protection Officer is a pivotal role within the organisation, ensuring that all business activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards. As a custodian of consumer duty and trusted advisor to the management team, you will establish and monitor compliance policies, mitigate risks, and handle regulatory relationships. In addition, you will lead data protection efforts, ensuring the confidentiality and security of personal and organisational data. By fostering a culture of compliance, you will help the organisation maintain it’s reputation, avoid penalties and build long term trust with stakeholders. Key Responsibilities: Customer Duty & Compliance: Ensure business activities align with regulatory expectations, particularly within financial services and insurance.Data Protection: Manage policies, oversee DPIAs, handle Access Requests, and advise on privacy and data-sharing.Risk & Audit: Conduct risk assessments, support internal/external audits, and develop mitigation strategies.Training & Guidance: Educate teams on compliance requirements, ensuring best practices across the organisation.Reporting & Monitoring: Provide real-time compliance advice, maintain regulatory oversight, prepare and present management reports for the senior leadership team and board. What You’ll Need:
  • Proven experience in a compliance role within financial services or insurance.
  • Strong working knowledge of Customer Duty regulations.
  • Expertise in UK GDPR and other financial regulations.
  • Ability to simplify and communicate complex compliance issues.
  • Flexibility to travel occasionally to other offices.
