I am seeking a dedicated caretaker to support a lovely school in the DN2 area of Doncaster. This role is on a temp to perm basis looking to start as soon as reasonably possible. The school is part of a multi-academy trust and thrive on collaboration and dedication. 

Day to Day of the Role:
  • Be on emergency call-out list and provide access to the school as required outside normal hours, including during emergencies such as floods or snow.
  • Report necessary repairs and maintenance work and direct contractors to the site, monitoring their work within set procedures.
  • Perform maintenance and repairs to property, fixtures, fittings, equipment, and furniture, including minor improvement jobs and internal decorating.
  • Replace bulbs, fluorescent tubes, fuses, and ensure that drains and gullies are free-flowing and clean.
  • Operate heating plant to maintain required temperatures and hot water availability.
  • Prepare for school and after-school activities, including setting up and clearing furniture and equipment.
  • Receive deliveries and distribute items throughout the school.
  • Carry out emergency tasks such as dealing with fire, flood, or accidents.
  • Ensure the security of buildings, contents, and grounds, acting as the primary key holder.
  • Assist in maintenance and repairs, including glazing, plumbing, and decorating.
  • Perform porterage duties and miscellaneous practical tasks as needed.
  • Respond to unplanned needs of the school, including emergencies and routine security arrangements.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience in premises work, preferably with a trade background.
  • Experience in a school environment or working with young people is desirable.
  • Experience managing contractors.
  • A professional qualification in building, estates, facilities, or a related area.
  • NEBOSH health and safety qualification or willingness to undertake training.
  • Good working knowledge of buildings, estates, and associated health and safety legislation.
  • GCSE pass grades in English and Maths or equivalent.
  • Committed, reliable, adaptable, and self-motivated with a ‘can do’ attitude.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Good team player willing to learn and undertake training.
