Caretaker

• Hourly Rate: £14.00
• Location: DN1
• Job Type: Interim, Temp to Perm
• Working Hours: Split shifts (6am-10am & 3pm-6pm), 5 days a week

We are seeking a dedicated School Caretaker to join our team at a large 2-form entry school, which is part of a supportive and inclusive multi-academy trust. The school has a high pupil premium, indicating a strong commitment to supporting its diverse student body. This role requires someone who can manage keyholding responsibilities, ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, and handle general maintenance tasks. The position is ideal for someone who is hands-on and can start immediately.

• Open and close the school premises during the designated hours.
• Perform general maintenance and handyman duties to ensure the school is well-maintained.
• Manage keyholding responsibilities, ensuring the security of the school premises.
• Monitor compliance with health and safety regulations, including legionella and COSSH.
• Conduct regular checks and maintenance of school facilities to prevent issues.
• Respond to emergency maintenance requests as needed.
• Liaise with external contractors when specialist maintenance is required.

• Experience in a caretaking or handyman role, preferably within a school environment.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations and compliance responsibilities.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and work independently.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• Reliable and punctual with a strong sense of responsibility.
• Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
