This role is crucial for providing a comprehensive joinery service across various council properties, involving both internal and external work. The position includes a range of responsibilities from basic repairs to complex installations, requiring a versatile and skilled individual.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Perform renewals and repairs on internal and external doors, windows, gates, and wooden structures.
  • Handle specific tasks such as the installation of kitchen units, stair repairs, and the maintenance of timber flooring.
  • Engage in property adaptations including the installation of level access showers and door widenings.
  • Supervise craft apprentices and assist in the training and development of new employees.
  • Operate council vehicles as necessary to perform duties across different locations.
  • Ensure all activities comply with health and safety regulations and council policies.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • NVQ Level 3 in Joinery or equivalent qualification.
  • Proven experience in joinery, preferably within a similar role handling both repairs and installations.
  • Ability to work independently and supervise apprentices.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a personal vehicle.
  • Must own personal hand tools (power tools will be provided by the council).
  • Flexibility to adapt to various tasks and a commitment to high-quality service delivery.
