Job Description

Adept have been retained by a a conversion manufacturer based near Scunthorpe that offers a wide range of converted vehicles for various sectors, including commercial markets, mobility, ambulance, police, temperature control, and security.

The Materials Controller role is part of our Supply Chain Management Team, focusing on placing purchase orders to ensure the right materials are available at the right time. The role covers all aspects of purchasing, from transactional processing to supplier management and approval.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in managing the supply chain.
  • Obtain quotations and negotiate with suppliers.
  • Conduct ordering of materials, considering production schedules, lead times, and safety stock to maintain adequate materials and consumable stocks.
  • Build on existing relationships with the supplier base.
  • Communicate any supply or supplier risks to the team.
  • Reduce inventory costs by analysing supplier performance and risk.
  • Maintain the outstanding purchase order system.
  • Expedite deliveries to ensure supply On Time in Full (OTiF) performance.
  • Maintain regular communication with other departments.
  • Liaise with site teams regarding delivery discrepancies or damages.
  • Report and progress any supplier quality non-conformance, including delivery discrepancies.
  • Stock allocation and updating works orders.


Requirements:

  • Previous automotive or vehicle conversion experience is an advantage but not essential.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
  • Proficiency in Excel.
  • Ability to work to strict deadlines and prioritise workload.
  • Ability to work under pressure and respond quickly to daily challenges.
  • A team player approach.
  • Proven ability to self-manage and deliver on time.
  • Reliable and flexible in their approach.
