Children's Residential Homes Deputy Manager

Doncaster Council is seeking two dedicated Deputy Managers for Children's Residential Homes. This role is crucial for assisting the Registered Manager in the daily management of the home and taking full responsibility in their absence, ensuring the highest standards of care in accordance with Children’s Homes Regulations 2015.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Assist in managing the home's budget and resources to ensure efficient operation.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with children, their families, professionals, and the community.
  • Ensure the appropriate assessment and admission of children into the home.
  • Implement and monitor all safeguarding practices.
  • Organise the duty rota to ensure adequate staff coverage at all times.
  • Lead the development and implementation of tailored care plans that promote each child's personal development, independence, and wellbeing.
  • Monitor and evaluate the quality of care provided, conduct regular audits, and implement improvement strategies.
  • Manage staff supervision, mentoring, training, and appraisals to maintain high care standards.
  • Ensure compliance with Children’s Homes Regulations and the Ofsted framework.
  • Act as the building manager, ensuring compliance with Fire, Environmental, and Health & Safety regulations.
  • Recruit and induct new staff, supporting their development and ensuring high-quality care.
  • Commit to the professional development of both yourself and your team.
  • Participate in the 'sleep in' rota as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Recent supervisory or management experience in a residential setting with children who have challenging emotional behaviours.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of Ofsted Regulations and quality standards.
  • Level 3 QCF Children & Young People or equivalent (desirable).
  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Care (desirable).
  • Ability to work flexibly and above normal hours during times of crisis.
