Dismantling Team Leader

We are hiring for a Dismantling Team Leader based at our Head Office in Doncaster to oversee daily operations of our Dismantling Team. This position involves managing the removal of parts such as engines and gearboxes in accordance with business needs.

Key areas of responsibility:


  • Ensure dismantled parts are met in line with job requests as per the SYNETIQ process and using TSD (touchscreen dismantling) to its optimum effect

  • Oversee accurate records of job request, log sheet etc. in accordance with agreed standards

  • Check parts recorded on database for accuracy in the workshop

  • Assist with providing advice to employees and liaising with other departments, obtain further information, update information and resolve problems

  • Ensure vehicles are stripped and scrapped in accordance with company standards, procedures and specific requirements

  • Support with any depollution processes safely and compliantly

  • Ensure that all employees are undertaking all works in accordance with health and safety standards, that all tools, equipment and ramps used (including de-pollution rig if required) are properly maintained in accordance with best practice, any waste spills dealt with, and that the workplace is kept in a clean, safe and tidy condition at all times

  • Manage employees on a daily basis, including managing leave, sickness and holidays, training and mentoring joiners, assisting with employee issues, periodic checks on the safety of lone workers and ensuring all employees have the correct safety equipment and tools in good working order

  • Ensure employees are completing all paperwork and electronic records are completed accurately and on time

  • Assign cover for any other appropriate activities and any other duties as may be required

  • Support continual recruitment and development of Dismantlers e.g. Apprenticeships, new recruits

Skills & Experience required:


  • Mechanical skills and/or able to dismantle parts safely

  • Ability to lead a team and maximise performance

  • Good knowledge of health and safety regulations

  • Forklift truck license counterbalance

  • Basic literacy and numeracy

  • Able to do manual work and manual handling

  • Attention to detail

  • Able to work outdoors in all weathers in some cases
