Our client, a long established and successful structural steelwork design business in South Yorkshire, seek to appoint a Design Manager with experience of the UK construction market to estimate, plan and design steelwork projects from receipt of order to completion on site. It is essential for you to have a background with structural steel and preferable for you to have good knowledge of site work and experience of project management and estimating. The appointed Design Manager will be commercially minded to ensure bottom line profitability, have a recognised Construction or Engineering qualification, but primarily you will be office based and concerned with the design of new structural steel projects. You need Tekla 3D experience. This is a key hire within the business and commands a good financial package.Design Manager - Role and Responsibilities - Structural Steel, Fabrication, Tekla, CAD, Design Engineer* Contribute information and technical input for inclusion with tender submissions* Review tender documentation including bill of quantities, architectural files, technical drawings and project specifications* Attend any pre-start, client, site meetings etc and obtain handover and transfer of relevant client and technical information * Carry out design work for new steel strucutures using Tekla 3D* Manage design activity to schedule detailing requirements, review/amend BIM models, and coordinate client approval, amendment and construction issue D&D requests* Liaise with client teams to schedule delivery and installationDesign Manager - Skills and Abilities - Structural Steel, Fabrication, Tekla, CAD, Design Engineer* A minimum of 5 years structural steel experience * HNC qualification as a minimum in Engineering or Construction field* Experience of designing new structural steel projects using Tekla 3D* Knowledge of project management and experience of being on site an advantage* Good written and oral skills and ability to work closely with other members of teams and clientsDesign Manager, Structural Steel, Fabrication, Tekla, CAD, Design Engineer
