Taylor Stevenson are happy to announce that a very well established, long standing client of ours who are prominent figures within the metal recycling industry in space are now looking for a new candidate to join them at one of their Doncaster sites!

Due to their stable and consistent growth that they're seeing year on year, they're now looking of Lead Maintenance Fitter to join them on a permanent basis to assist them with the companies forward progression.

This role is a paying between 45,000 and 50,000 per year with working hours of 7AM - 5PM Monday to Friday with an hour lunch break included!

The Lead Maintenance Fitter will actively lead a team of maintenance staff to ensure all required maintenance works are actioned swiftly and accurately ensuring a smooth operations ensuring minimum site downtime and maximum operational effectiveness!

As the Lead Maintenance Fitter your job duties will include:

  • Provide leadership, direction and guidance to the site maintenance team working on site alongside the team approximately 80% of the time
  • Planning and scheduling preventive and corrective maintenance work.
  • Ensuring that all maintenance work is documented according to internal and external requirements.
  • Monitoring the inventory of spare parts and maintenance supplies, planning re-orders to avoid delays in maintenance activities.
  • Training and developing maintenance staff to enhance their skill sets and efficiency.
  • Responding promptly to emergency situations involving equipment breakdowns, mitigating potential hazards or interruptions.
  • Supervising and managing the maintenance team to ensure that all maintenance activities are performed efficiently and in compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Conducting regular inspections of plant and mobile plant to identify areas for improvement and compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Managing maintenance-related budgets, ensuring cost efficiency while maintaining high standards of equipment and plant upkeep.
  • Liaising with external contractors and suppliers to acquire high-quality services and materials for maintenance projects.

The type of candidate they're looking for has:

  • Extensive experience in maintenance, including experience in a lead role, preferably working with heavy plant.
  • Broad range of practical skills including welding, burning and maintaining and repairing conveyors, motors and gearboxes
  • Strong understanding of compliance and safety regulations pertinent to the industry.
  • Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills to effectually guide the maintenance team and collaborate with other department leaders.
