School Governor at Heatherwood School

Heatherwood School is a Doncaster based special school for children between the ages of 3-19 with severe, profound and/or multiple learning difficulties. We have an additional post 16 provision for pupils with moderate learning needs, and a small cohort are educated at The Bridge, our offsite provision. We live by our mission statement and seek to develop a better tomorrow for all learners, through a holistic blend of quality first teaching experiences; celebrating pupils’ strengths along a highly personalised learning journey.The school is part of Nexus Academy Trust. Heatherwood School is seeking a new Parent Governor.

 

Governors are volunteers who have an interest in improving outcomes for children and young people.

As a governor you would work alongside other people in the Academy Council for the school. These are made up of Staff Governors, Parent Governors, Community Governors, Headteacher and officers from the Nexus Central Trust Team. As a Parent Governor you would need to have a child who is a pupil on roll at the school you are interested in.

As a team you would receive information and reports related to the school’s

  • Self-Evaluation
  • School Improvement Plan
  • Pupil and Community Voice

Meetings are scheduled in the daytime during the school day or evenings, depending on the individual school and the dates are set a year in advance. Meetings generally last for 2 hours and there is one meeting per term.
