Job Overview

To develop, advise and implement Health and Safety Policy within the Bogie Division, Doncaster/Wheelset Division Manchester, to ensure the highest possible standards are achieved and maintained. To support the production in achieving challenging customer requirements, in line with the relevant Health and Safety, environmental and energy reduction legislation, promoting best practice and an environment of continuous improvement.To develop a positive safety culture throughout all parts of the business, leading to the Company vision where safety is second nature for every individual.

Responsibilities and Duties

Develop, advise, and implement health and safety policy.

Facilitate compliance with occupational health and safety guidelines.

Chair Health and Safety monthly site meetings.

Organize mandatory health and safety training for the site.

Facilitate the management of Safety documentation (RA, SSoW, COSSH, Lifting Plans etc.)

Manage the Safety Audit program.

Support new product implementation to ensure risks within production are controlled.

Support CAPEX processes to ensure new risks are not introduced to the business and new investments are compliant with Safety regs.

Monitor and promote environmental and energy initiatives.

Manage and advise on hazardous materials, environmental and waste.

Supporting onsite visitors and contractors with approval of RAMs and on-site inductions

Audit and produce Health and Safety KPIs with a view to reducing reportable incidents and time loss.

Supporting production in product implementation and technical queries

Induct new employees in health and safety

To ensure legal compliance by the coordination of the following:

Inspection and monitoring of certain hazards and equipment, including:

LEV, Pressure Systems, Air, Noise, Legionella, LOLER, FLTs, HAVS

Fire safety, including:

Fire drills, Fire book, Fire Risk Assessment, DSEAR, Control of flammable liquids

Site hazard list

Produce a monthly report.

Accident and incident reporting and investigation

Qualifications & Experience

NEBOSH qualified

Minimum 2 years experience of Health and Safety Management in an engineering manufacturing environment

Demonstrable proactive approach and continuous improvement mind-set

Good written and verbal communicator

Experience working with IT systems and software.

Prior experience of producing reporting documents and KPIs
