Role Overview:

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant (GRAD TA), you will work closely with teachers and students, supporting learning across a variety of subjects. You will gain first-hand classroom experience, develop essential teaching skills and support students academically and pastorally. This is an excellent opportunity to enhance your communication, leadership and mentoring abilities before pursuing a PGCE or teacher training programme.

Key Responsibilities:

Support teachers in delivering engaging lessons across various subjects at Key Stages 3 and 4.
Work with small groups or individual students, assisting with their academic progress.
Provide classroom support, helping to manage behaviour and ensure a positive learning environment.
Assist students with special educational needs (SEN), ensuring they receive tailored support.
Deliver intervention sessions to help students who need additional learning support.
Foster a positive and inclusive learning atmosphere, motivating students to achieve their best.
Support teachers with lesson planning, resource preparation and marking when required.

Requirements:

A degree qualification (any subject specialism within secondary education).
A genuine interest in education and supporting young people’s learning.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and other school staff.
A positive, proactive and adaptable approach to working in a school environment.
Previous experience in mentoring, tutoring, coaching, or working with young people is desirable but not essential.
Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
