GSL Education South Yorkshire are urgently seeking to hire an enthusiastic Teaching Assistant for a long term role starting as soon as possible on behalf of our secondary client school located in Doncaster. This is a fantastic opportunity for recent Graduates or aspiring Teaching Assistants looking to expand their range of expertise into a promising role within secondary division.

The ideal candidate must abide by the following objectives:

  • To retain genuine interest to work in schools and support young people overcome any barriers to learning.
  • To provide tailored support to the class teacher in the delivery of a creative curriculum, outdoor curriculum, or play-based learning curriculum.
  • To provide social, emotional, and academic support on a 1:1 and small group basis, if required.
  • To work in partnership with other support staff, teachers, and outside agencies to ensure each child receives the best education and support.
  • To track progress and developmental markers.

Essential requirements for the job role:

  • Have sound knowledge or hands-on experience of supporting people with additional needs, learning difficulties, social, emotional, and mental health needs or speech, language, and communication needs; or be willing to work with such pupils.
  • Be a flexible, dynamic, and reliable practitioner.
  • Have strong regard for the student's well-being (both emotional and physical) and a positive approach towards working with children in order to inspire, engage and motivate them.
  • Have an understanding of how to build rapport and positive relationships with students.
  • Possess an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service, or be willing to apply for one at once. GSL Education offers you to process for DBS application via uCheck.
