PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
To assist in the running of the Personal Injury/Clinical Negligence department by carrying out essential administrative duties, including but not limited to taking instructions, filing paperwork, producing legal documents and drafting correspondence.
DUTIES WILL INCLUDE:
Provision of secretarial and administrative support to the Litigation team
Dealing mainly with litigation client cases from start to finish
Audio and copy typing of correspondence and legal documents
Liaising with existing and potential clients, and third parties via email, telephone and face to face
Preparing a wide range of legal documentation and general correspondence
Managing busy diary schedules, arranging meetings and preparing required paperwork
Completing research for the legal team and preparing detailed reports
Fielding incoming telephone calls and dealing with general enquiries
Dealing with office payments
Dealing with incoming correspondence
Use of a legal case management system (Proclaim)
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Proficiency in word processing software including MS Office and Proclaim
Experience of MOJ Portals
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to work with a team of Lawyers and others in the organisation
The ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
Attention to detail
A professional and courteous manner
Ability to type quickly and accurately
Preparing court statements and forms
Dictating Lawyers' audio files and written notes
Managing records, projects and calendars to make sure everything functions smoothly
Transcribing and proofreading legal documents
Indexing and updating pleadings and discovery binders
Collecting and delivering documents
Managing diaries and making travel arrangements for one or more Lawyers
Supporting legal research and communicating with vendors, experts, Lawyers, opposing counsel and other staff
Familiarity with legal terminology and documentation
