12 month maternity cover Payroll Assistant Opportunity!I have a brand new 12 month FTC Payroll Assistant opportunity to join an established, friendly, payroll team within a successful business based in Doncaster and support with the full process of a 4 weekly payroll.

The role is full-time, 35 hours, and the working hours are flexible. This company also offers 2-3 days working from home.About the Role:

Reporting to the established Payroll Manager, joining the payroll team of 6, as the payroll assistant you will be responsible for supporting the team in completing the end to end 4 weekly payroll processes for 2600 employees, in addition to pension processes, expenses, benefits in kind and starters and leavers and other on boarding processes.

This company is looking to make further improvements to their payroll processes and so you will also be invited to have a seat at the table discussing ideas and have the opportunity to present any of your recommendations for improvement.

With the support of the Payroll manager:

  • As part of a team of 6-responsible for the end to end 4 weekly in-house payroll process for circa 6000 UK employees across various departments and locations, ensuring payments are accurate and processed on time.
  • Process pension contributions and benefits in kind.
  • Process employee expenses claims.
  • Maintain payroll systems and records, including new hires, terminations, changes to salaries, and other payroll adjustments.
  • Prepare and submit payroll, deductions, and benefits contributions.
  • Resolve payroll discrepancies and payroll queries.
  • Ensure compliance with payroll regulations, including PAYE, National Insurance Contributions (NICs), pension schemes (auto-enrolment), and statutory payments (SSP, SMP).
  • Prepare and distribute pay slips, p45s, p60s, P11Ds, and other payroll-related documentation.

Ideally you will have:

  • Excellent understanding of payroll practices
  • Experience working as a dedicated payroll assistant
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent IT Skills including MS Office, including excel skills
  • A self-starter - self-motivated, proactive, and able to act on own initiative.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience of working in a busy environment, an understanding of the importance of deadlines and the ability to work under pressure.
