Flying Squad Rigger

We are seeking an experienced Level 3 or 4 OPITO Qualified Offshore Rigger to join our client's Flying Squad support team, specialising in offshore crane operations in the North Sea & other locations internationally. This role involves working across various offshore installations, supporting rigging and lifting operations as part of ongoing maintenance, construction, and heavy lifting activities.

As a key member of the Flying Squad, you will provide essential rigging support across multiple platforms, working closely with crane operators and offshore teams to ensure safe and efficient lifting operations. This role requires flexibility, strong rigging experience, and the ability to quickly mobilise to different locations as required. You will be required to work closely with the Technicians, and therefore will be required to support on mechanical works.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely and effectively carry out rigging and lifting operations in support of crane activities on offshore platforms.
  • Collaborate with crane operators and offshore teams to plan, prepare, and execute complex lifting operations.
  • Assist Lead Technician in other aspects of the work scope where directed using tools in a safe manner
  • Conduct risk assessments, develop lift plans, and ensure all lifting equipment and accessories are certified, inspected, and in good working order.
  • Operate and maintain rigging equipment in line with industry standards and HSE regulations.
  • Provide rapid response and on-call support as part of the Flying Squad, assisting with urgent operations across multiple offshore installations.
  • Ensure adherence to the highest standards of safety, following OPITO guidelines, company policies, and offshore regulations.
  • Keep detailed records of lifts, safety checks, and equipment use, ensuring full compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and training sessions to promote continuous improvement and knowledge sharing within the team.

Requirements:

• OPITO Level 3 or 4 Rigger Certification (essential).

• Minimum of 3-5 years of offshore rigging experience, preferably within the North Sea region.

• Strong knowledge of offshore safety regulations (including LOLER, PUWER, and HSE guidelines).

• Experience working in dynamic environments with the flexibility to mobilise to different platforms as part of the Flying Squad.

• Excellent teamwork, communication, and problem-solving abilities.

• Valid offshore survival and medical certificates (BOSIET, MIST, OGUK).

• Competent in interpreting and implementing lift plans and method statements.

• Mechanical aptitude and experience in equipment maintenance (advantageous).

• Rope Access Certification (IRATA Level 1 or above) would be a distinct advantage.

• Valid UK driving licence

Additional Information:

Working hours: You will be required to work 12-hour days, mobilising on an ad hoc basis.

Location: North Sea, offshore platforms or anywhere the company requires.

Competitive Day Rate/Salary: Basic £25k per annum, OTE £50k
