Key Responsibilities of a Secondary Teaching Assistant:

• Provide one-to-one and small group support to ensure students remain engaged and on task.

• Assist teachers in delivering engaging and tailored lessons.

• Support students with SEN, behavioural needs, or additional learning challenges.

• Help manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies.

• Encourage student participation, independence, and confidence.

• Supervise students during break times, lunchtimes, and school activities.

Requirements for a Secondary Teaching Assistant:

• Experience working with secondary-aged students (in schools, tutoring, or youth work).

• An understanding of SEN, Autism, ADHD, and behavioural needs is desirable.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• A patient, adaptable, and proactive attitude.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

• An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one.
