- Supervising and mentoring junior staff members and leading shifts as the shift leader.
- Developing and implementing individual care plans tailored to the unique needs of each child.
- Promoting positive relationships with children, their families, and professionals.
- Supporting children with complex behaviours, ensuring they receive the care and support needed to thrive.
- Participating in regular sleep-in shifts (paid at £40.77 per shift).
- Helping to manage the rota, ensuring adequate staff cover at all times.
- Advocating for children, demonstrating a “good parent” approach to care.
- Promoting a safe, secure environment, adhering to all safeguarding procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Level 3 TQUK Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
- At least 12 months’ experience in a residential children’s home.
- A genuine passion for working with children and young people with emotional, behavioural, or complex health needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
- The flexibility to work unsocial hours, including weekends, evenings, and sleep-ins.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- Mornings: 7am – 3pm
- Afternoons: 2pm – 10pm
- Afternoons & Sleep-ins: 2pm – 11pm and then 7am – 2pm the next day
- You will have 9 days off per 4-week rota, with the opportunity for overtime paid at time and a quarter over 37 hours.
