We are seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to provide 1:1 support to a Year 1 child with an EHCP. This role requires a compassionate individual with strong behaviour management skills and a solid understanding of the KS1 curriculum. The ideal candidate will be adept at setting boundaries and fostering an environment that encourages the child to actively engage in learning.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Provide tailored 1:1 support to a Year 1 child, addressing their educational and emotional needs as outlined in their EHCP.
  • Implement effective behaviour management strategies to maintain a positive and structured learning environment.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to ensure consistency and continuity in the child’s learning experience.
  • Develop and utilise resources and activities that support the KS1 curriculum and cater to the child’s individual learning style.
  • Monitor the child’s progress and provide feedback to teachers and parents, contributing to the assessment and review of the EHCP.
  • Encourage the child’s independence and self-confidence through positive reinforcement and targeted support.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience in a similar Learning Support Assistant role, particularly with KS1 children.
  • Proven ability to manage challenging behaviour and set clear boundaries.
  • Good knowledge of the KS1 curriculum and strategies to support learning.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping children with additional needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with staff, parents, and external agencies.
