HGV/Plant Technician

Job Overview

Located in Armthorpe, near Doncaster, our client is the premier hire supplier of Vacuum Excavators to the UK construction industry, with a fully equipped, modern HGV workshop to DVSA standards.

Due to their continued growth, they are seeking a professional, team focused and skilled HGV/Plant Technician to join their highly skilled and motivated team, maintaining a large modern fleet, predominantly Mercedes.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining and repairing heavy goods vacuum excavators to ensure they are safe and efficient for operation.

This is a 4 on 4 off role, working a 10 hour day, with regular OT available. Some remote working/on call will be required to deal with breakdowns etc.

Responsibilities

- Conduct HGV vehicle inspections and repair in accordance with DVSA standards and the GTMR.

- Interpret schematics and technical drawings to diagnose and repair faults

- Use hand tools and equipment to perform maintenance and repairs on HGV and Plant

- Conduct mechanical and electrical diagnostics on vehicles and Plant

- Carry out forklift, soldering, welding, and other associated tasks as required

- Perform heavy lifting when necessary

Skills

- HGV Class 2 (Cat C) advantageous

- Minimum Level 2 qualification in a relevant mechanical engineering discipline

- Proficient in interpreting schematics and technical drawings

- Experience with hand tools and equipment repair

- Strong mechanical knowledge of heavy goods vehicles, IRTEC L3 an advantage

- Electrical diagnostic skills are advantageous

- Ability to operate forklifts

- Proficiency in hydraulic systems

- Capable of heavy lifting as part of the job duties
