Vardey Recruitment is delighted to be working exclusively with an entrepreneurial, forward- thinking and unique owner managed Accountancy Practice in the beautiful town of Dorchester in West Dorset. We are recruiting a Senior Accountant / Senior Associate to join the fantastic team and nurture both well established and budding companies from their first-year end to eventual founder exits. They are a small but rapidly growing, dynamic and experienced team that provides traditional year end accountancy & taxation services and the production of high-quality management information. They offer independent Finance Director services and Lead Advisory Corporate Finance focussed around valuations, founder exit planning and eventual business sale execution. They are a member firm of the ICAEW but stand-out from other practices with their entrepreneurial spirt and focus on growth-to-sale business development phase & high value skillset.From your first day, you will be exposed to a broad range of clients and companies, whilst working within this independent innovative firm. Your mentors, having themselves been trained by one of the largest global accountancy consultancies, will ensure your career continues to grow, adding skills to your portfolio. No one day will be the same! Your role will be a lot more varied than many firms as there is NO audit in this entrepreneurial firm!Summary of Senior Accountant / Senior Associate - Job Description

  • Preparation of year end accounts and tax returns but no bookkeeping, VAT agency or payroll to manage! (They operate in conjunction a network of high-quality independent bookkeepers).
  • Involvement in regular corporate finance projects, including running sales processes for businesses of typically £5m-£20m turnover.
  • To include M&A activity
  • Servicing independent Finance Director contracts with quality management information and analysis.
  • Assistance with the development & growth of their service lines, systems and team.

Skills Needed for Senior Accountant / Senior Associate

  • A strong educational background in Accountancy and Finance (ACA/ACCA Qualified)
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
  • A desire to continue with professional development to obtain a broad base of skills
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and networking skills
  • Proven expertise in managing client relationships in the professional services industry
  • A flair for developing business and relationships with existing clients
  • A thorough understanding of accounting issues and how to resolve them
  • Strong leadership skills to manage and mentor junior accountants
  • Attention to detail, strong analytic skills and proficiency in accounting software
  • Possibly a fully Qualified Accountant - ACA or ACCA, Finalist or Part-qualified on the route to continue studies/qualify
