Supplier Quality Engineer - £45,000 - Plus Bonus Pension and corporate benefits

Melbreck Technical are working with a world renowned designer and manufacturer of specialist aerospace and defence equipment based in Dorset.

Due to succession planning within the business they are looking to build on their quality function and resources by hiring a Supplier Quality Engineer to join their business ASAP.

In this role you will be identifying process improvement and control opportunities within the entire supply chain, by building supplier relationships for effective working practices.

You will be keeping KPI metric data to monitor, maintain or improve supplier performance, all whilst working with the suppliers to develop corrective action plans to address any process failings.


Supplier Quality Engineer - Key Responsibilities:

Supplier Quality Management and Supplier process improvement

Evaluate and process FAI reports from suppliers in line with AS9102. Reporting back to suppliers on these documents for guidance / correction where necessary.

Setting and maintaining PO notes.

Collect and evaluate supplier quality data to add to the team review of supplier performance

Creation / updates of documentation used by supply chain.

Working with the supplier directly to create, manage and close corrective action plans to address process failures.

Process and products audits within the supply chain to address failures and perform regular timescale related audits.

Perform source inspections on supplier sites when necessary.

Collect and maintain supplier performance metrics.

Review and update Corrective Action Reports.

Regularly visit suppliers and assist Supply Chain in conducting Supplier

Audits.

Participate in Quality meetings and present purchased part or product quality issues.


Supplier Quality Engineer - Experience and Skills Required:

Education

Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or related field ideal but not essential

Experience

Experience of Quality Engineering within a manufacturing environment essential.

Ability to interpret engineering drawings

Ability to use measuring equipment to 0.01mm correctly

8D, Lean, Six Sigma with experience of process capability analysis and process improvement

Internal audit experience
