About the Role

As a CCTV Operator working for Dorset Council, you will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining surveillance equipment, observing security footage, and reporting any suspicious activities. The role requires vigilance, attention to detail, and adherence to security protocols to ensure the safety of personnel, assets, and premises

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and monitor CCTV cameras and alarm systems to detect unusual or suspicious activities.
  • Ensure all cameras are functioning correctly and report any malfunctions to the appropriate person.
  • Record and report security incidents, breaches, or any unlawful activities observed on CCTV footage.
  • Maintain accurate logs and reports for security records.
  • Follow security procedures and protocols in handling incidents.
  • React promptly to security alarms, investigating disturbances and taking necessary action.
  • Ensure all recorded footage remains confidential and is accessed only by authorised personnel.
  • Adhere to data protection and privacy regulations.
  • Review and analyse CCTV footage to support security investigations.
  • Provide accurate reports and evidence when required.
  • Conduct daily system checks to ensure optimal operation of surveillance equipment.
  • Report any technical issues to the IT or maintenance department.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Strong observational and analytical abilities
  • Knowledge of CCTV systems and security procedures
