SQL DBA

Location: Remote/Wool

Salary £50,000 - £60,000

Position Overview:

We are looking for a SQL DBA support engineer who will be working as part of an award-winning Team to provide mostly remote and some onsite technical support, for one of our clients based in Wool. This can include incidents, problems, change requests, or projects depending on the requirements of our client. The engineer must possess excellent verbal communication skills as well as exceptional analytical and technical skills and continually look to improve on this. In addition, they need to collaborate with the entire On-site team with positive communication and sharing of knowledge and information.

The role will be heavily focused on SQL Database administration including design, implementation, and maintenance of the SQL environment, Patching, and Cyber Security remediation.

Responsibilities:

The Database Administrator will be responsible for the optimal running of SQL databases, their backups and disaster recovery testing. Responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring SQL databases are performing at an optimum level.
  • Defining backup and restore strategies and disaster recovery.
  • Provide SQL Server database development and administration across business applications.
  • Supporting client specific business system implementation and migration.
  • Ensuring implementation of best performance management approaches.
  • Upgrade plans for database versions.
  • Database server configuration and best practice.
  • Proactive identification and resolution of problematic transactions
  • Oversee database backup strategy and recovery procedures.
  • Provision nonstandard items.
  • Install software patches and recovery procedures .
  • Carry out daily checks, complete service requests and change requests withing SLA

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Significant and proven exposure to administering SQL Server 2014/2016/2019/2022 and Azure SQL.
  • Strong Knowledge of Database and application low level architecture.
  • Proficiency in designing highly available database solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of performance tuning, query optimisation and index management.
  • Experience with SQL monitoring tools.
  • Proven experience of SQL scripting and coding.
  • SQL clustering/high availability and disaster recovery.
  • SQL optimisation and tuning.
  • Windows Server 2012/2019/2022 Server operating systems.
  • Azure DevOps/SVN
