Reed are exclusively searching for a Quarry Manager to oversee operations for a well-established quarry in Dorchester. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the production of high-quality products while adhering to safety and environmental regulations. This role offers a competitive salary, a comprehensive benefits package, and the opportunity to lead a dedicated team in a dynamic environment.

Day to Day of the Role:
  • Oversee mobile and fixed plant operations, ensuring availability and arranging repairs as needed.
  • Manage orders and spending to adhere to cost budgets.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, permissions, and licenses.
  • Lead, motivate, and train the workforce to maintain high morale.
  • Provide monthly operational reports and cost forecasts to the Production Manager.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual cost budgets.
What's Required (Skills & Qualifications):
  • NVQ Level 6 Diploma in Safety, Health and Environmental Management in Mineral Product Operations.
  • NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Plant Operations with competency in operating quarry plant.
  • Proven management experience within the mineral products industry, preferably sand and gravel.
  • Strong understanding of plant and machinery, maintenance, and planning.
  • Knowledge of production processes, health and safety systems, and cost/budget control.
  • In-depth understanding of the Quarries Regulations Act 1999 and ACOP.
Desirable Attributes:
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage and organise the operational team.
  • Familiarity with engineering and statutory responsibilities and all aspects of health, safety, and environmental legislation.
  • Customer-focused with a commitment to service and quality standards.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging with stakeholders at all levels.
