As a Special Needs Care Worker, you will provide personalised care and assistance to children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). Working closely with teachers and school staff, you will play a key role in supporting students with their academic, social, and emotional development, creating a positive and nurturing environment for all.

Responsibilities of Special Needs Care Worker:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support tailored to the needs of students.
  • Assist with personal care needs where required, always ensuring dignity and respect.
  • Support students in accessing the curriculum and engaging in learning activities.
  • Implement strategies to help manage behavioural challenges and promote positive behaviour.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other professionals to develop and implement individual learning and care plans.
  • Monitor and document students’ progress, sharing insights with staff and families.
  • Encourage students to build confidence, independence, and life skills.

What we’re looking for:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND as a Special Needs Care Worker is highly desirable.
  • Relevant qualifications such as Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, Childcare, or Health and Social Care are advantageous.
  • A calm, patient, and nurturing approach to working with students.
  • Knowledge of behaviour management techniques and special education practices.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from the last two years.
  • Possess an enhanced DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
