Adecco are pleased to be recruiting for a Corporate Communications Officer to join Dorset Police at their Winfrith HQ.

This position would be working full time, Monday - Friday. It is a Hybrid role, the pay rate is 16.46 per hour.

This would be a temporary post initially until March 2025.

The principal responsibility of the role is to take lead officer responsibility for the research, design and implementation of corporate communications initiatives and campaigns to inform and engage communities, stakeholders, partners and the workforce. Specific focus on supporting corporate communications (reputationally complex issues) internal communications and change communications through an outcome focused and intelligence driven approach.

Main Responsibility include:

  • To identify internal and external opportunities to communicate key corporate messages via the media, the website, and other traditional and new technology mechanisms, including to the public directly. This will include the identification and implementation of new communication channels.
  • Produce corporate literature, PR products and engagement materials aimed at the public, internal audiences, other stakeholders and partners to increase understanding of policing services, ensuring the consistent application of the Force corporate image.
  • Manage the brand, corporate identify and tone of voice from both a risk and opportunity perspective, including with partners
  • Analyse and segment internal and external audiences, planning communications tactics, messages and channels appropriate to each, then produce clear, concise and creative copy aimed at these diverse internal and external audiences.
  • Support departmental colleagues with the Force annual Events Management Strategy to enhance public engagement with and support for the police.
  • Develop new and innovative internal communications channels to enable officers and staff to access information more easily.
  • Advise and influence colleagues and partners up to, and including, at Gold level, on the best communications approach for planned and reactive issues. A focus should be given to achieving awareness, maintaining public confidence, understanding engagement and behavioural change and managing communication risk.
  • Attend and provide advice at internal and external meetings, facilitating media requests and enquiries for projects and encouraging and incorporating audience feedback.

Criteria:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent professional experience in a relevant communications discipline.
  • Proven track record of implementing PR and marketing strategies
  • Evidence of delivering communications in a change environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven organisational, planning, research and evaluation skills
  • Proven experience of developing internal communication strategies for diverse audiences including mobile workers
  • Ability to identify, map and manage a large number of stakeholders simultaneously
