My client, an ambitious and exciting company of industrial automation specialists and robotic integrator providing cutting-edge solutions across aerospace, renewables and defence, is looking for a Controls Engineer to join their team on a full time, permanent basis.

We are currently looking to add to the software engineering team. Ideally looking for someone with:

  • 3+ years of experience programming Fanuc robots at an advanced level
  • STEM degree, preferably engineering
  • Experience using Roboguide
  • Ability to communicate at a high technical level, in both written and verbal English
  • Willingness, interest, and ability to rapidly learn new technology
  • Able to work on own initiative and autonomously
  • Competent diagnosing common electrical issues
  • Willing and able to travel

Desirable:

  • Experience commissioning and programming Siemens S7 PLCs and TIA Portal
  • PLC programming in IEC (phone number removed) languages (ST essential)
  • Motion control, including VFD setup and drive tuning
  • Functional Safety (designing, programming, validating)
  • Experience with other industrial automation devices

Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing software, using a diverse codebase. We use a wide variety of industrial robotic and controls platforms, such as Fanuc and Kuka robots, Beckhoff and Siemens PLCs and many other devices with their own associated environments and languages.
  • You will be confident commissioning new equipment, following detailed user manuals, and debugging common electrical issues.

This is a role where no two days, or projects, are the same. The successful applicant will have a passion for robotics and automation, be curious & inquisitive, and a natural problem solver. They will work on their own initiative to learn new technologies, and have a 'knack' for making things work.

You will be required to visit client sites, across a number of different sectors, including defence. As a result, the successful candidate will need to be a British Citizen and be able to obtain security clearance up to Developed Vetting level.

What can we offer you?

  • A flexible working environment
  • 25 days holiday + bank holidays
  • Occupational sick pay
  • Company pension
  • A friendly and supportive work environment
  • Generous overnight allowance when travelling
