My client, an ambitious and exciting company of industrial automation specialists and robotic integrator providing cutting-edge solutions across aerospace, renewables and defence, is looking for a Controls Engineer to join their team on a full time, permanent basis.
We are currently looking to add to the software engineering team. Ideally looking for someone with:
- 3+ years of experience programming Fanuc robots at an advanced level
- STEM degree, preferably engineering
- Experience using Roboguide
- Ability to communicate at a high technical level, in both written and verbal English
- Willingness, interest, and ability to rapidly learn new technology
- Able to work on own initiative and autonomously
- Competent diagnosing common electrical issues
- Willing and able to travel
Desirable:
- Experience commissioning and programming Siemens S7 PLCs and TIA Portal
- PLC programming in IEC (phone number removed) languages (ST essential)
- Motion control, including VFD setup and drive tuning
- Functional Safety (designing, programming, validating)
- Experience with other industrial automation devices
Key Responsibilities:
- Developing software, using a diverse codebase. We use a wide variety of industrial robotic and controls platforms, such as Fanuc and Kuka robots, Beckhoff and Siemens PLCs and many other devices with their own associated environments and languages.
- You will be confident commissioning new equipment, following detailed user manuals, and debugging common electrical issues.
This is a role where no two days, or projects, are the same. The successful applicant will have a passion for robotics and automation, be curious & inquisitive, and a natural problem solver. They will work on their own initiative to learn new technologies, and have a 'knack' for making things work.
You will be required to visit client sites, across a number of different sectors, including defence. As a result, the successful candidate will need to be a British Citizen and be able to obtain security clearance up to Developed Vetting level.
