GSL Education are currently looking for an energetic and dedicated individual to work as an Activity Support Worker in a local school based in Dorchester.
About the School:
The school encompasses two sites in Dorchester with one common shared purpose: to provide the very best in education and support for all children who (for a variety of reasons) find themselves outside of mainstream school education. The school is an alternative provision that uses vocational and extracurricular methods to enable the students to gain functional and life skills. With a primary and secondary division, the school is inclusive of all ages and abilities and strives to give its pupils the best possible opportunities for post 16 life.
About the Role:
As an Activity Support Worker, you will lead engaging activities to help students with behavioural challenges develop key skills in a supportive and inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver a variety of engaging, fun, and educational activities tailored to the needs of students with behavioural challenges.
- Support students in developing their social, emotional, and physical skills through structured group sessions.
- Foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment where every student can thrive.
- Work closely with teaching staff and support teams to ensure activities align with individual learning plans.
- Encourage student participation, independence, and personal growth through creative play and exploration.
Ideal Candidate:
- Experience of working with children, preferably in a school setting.
- A passion for working with young people and creating positive, enriching experiences.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with students.
- Creative, flexible, and adaptable approach to activity planning.
- A commitment to inclusivity and understanding the diverse needs of SEN students.
