About the Role:

  • As a Family Worker with the Fostering Service, you'll offer invaluable support to children and young people in care.
  • Your role is pivotal in helping them remain part of their foster families through creative and innovative interventions.
  • Conduct 1:1 and relationship-based work for those in care and those transitioning out, helping them find stability and success.
  • Your position is key in fostering strong bonds and continuity across Children's Services, making a real impact on different lives.

What You Will Do:

  • Support Foster Carers and Lodgings Hosts across Dorset, including those outside the county.
  • Complete and record statutory visits every six weeks promptly.
  • Collaborate with the team around the children to devise young person-focused pathways to independence.
  • Prevent immediate disruptions for children in care and support carers effectively.
  • Provide solid support, supervision, and participate in reviews and panels.
  • Ensure safeguarding procedures are practiced and concerns escalated.
  • Develop meaningful relationships with children, young people, carers, and other professionals to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Undertake direct work addressing issues like family conflict, behaviour, risk of offending, and more.
  • Foster a strengths-based and therapeutic approach to support young people.
  • Facilitate planned interventions by escorting, supervising, or transporting children as required.
