Help make a difference in the lives of children and young people by supporting foster carers and delivering creative, relationship-based interventions.

What Youll Do:
  • As a Family Worker within the Fostering Team, youll:
  • Support Children and Carers: Provide tailored support to foster carers, supported lodgings hosts, children in care, and care leavers across Dorset and beyond.
  • Conduct Statutory Visits: Complete regular visits and maintain accurate, timely records.
  • Promote Stability: Help children remain with their foster families through interventions that prevent placement breakdowns.
  • Collaborate: Work closely with multi-professional teams to ensure a young person-centred approach and effective pathways to independence.
  • Safeguard: Follow safeguarding procedures, escalate concerns appropriately, and support carers with training and development.
  • Build Relationships: Undertake direct work with children and their carers, addressing issues like family conflict, behaviour challenges, school attendance, neglect, and emotional health.
  • Contribute to Panels: Attend and present at fostering and supported lodgings panels.

What You Bring:
  • Qualifications: A recognised social work qualification (e.g., Degree/Diploma in Social Work) and registration with Social Work England.
  • Experience: Proven experience working with children and young people, particularly those in care or transitioning to independence.
  • Skills: Excellent organisational, communication, and relationship-building skills. A talent for writing detailed reports and meeting deadlines is essential.
  • Approach: Passionate about making a positive impact, with a strengths-based and therapeutic mindset.
  • Adaptability: Willingness to work flexibly, including outside normal working hours when necessary.
