Children's Commissioning Officer - SEND
Are you passionate about making a lasting difference in the lives of children and young people? A rewarding opportunity is now available for a Commissioning Officer (Children) to play a key role in shaping and delivering high-impact services. This is a hybrid role, offering a blend of home-based and in-office working to support flexibility and work-life balance.
You'll contribute to the development, implementation, and monitoring of commissioning plans that improve outcomes for children and young people, with a particular focus on Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and Alternative Education Provision. Working closely with commissioning managers and wider partners, you'll help ensure that services are well-planned, evidence-driven, and aligned with strategic priorities.
This role involves supporting needs assessments, data analysis, service development, and performance monitoring to ensure services are efficient, effective, and offer value for money. You'll collaborate across systems, drawing on local resources and partnerships to co-produce solutions that deliver better outcomes. With a focus on system change and innovation, you'll play a part in shaping a more responsive and inclusive service landscape for children.
To be successful in this role, you will need a strong understanding of the commissioning cycle and experience in children's services. You should have a solid grasp of key national issues relevant to SEND and alternative provision, and be confident using performance data, undertaking needs assessments, and contributing to service reviews. Experience in commissioning projects, service development, financial management, and collaborative working across systems is essential.
This role is ideal for someone who brings creativity, analytical thinking, and a collaborative spirit to commissioning work. If you're driven by purpose and committed to improving outcomes for children and young people, we'd love to hear from you.
