Our well-established client in Dorchester is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (LabVIEW) to join their growing team.

The company is market-leading in its sector, and they work with organisations all over the world.

This is an on-site role in Dorchester. Ideally, the Senior Software Engineer will be local however, the company will also welcome any potential relocators.

Senior Software Engineer - Key Responsibilities:

  • Architecting and leading the development of high-quality, medium-large scale control software applications in LabVIEW for the integration into electromechanical ultrasonic measurement and test systems.
  • Providing mentorship to members of the Software & Systems team to enhance their proficiency in advanced LabVIEW skills.
  • Capturing and refining complex software requirements for client facing projects (e.g. UMS, UMSI).
  • Providing technical product support to diverse global clientele in ultrasound, which encompasses academic institutions, medical device manufacturers, aerospace and defence firms, and non-destructive testing (NDT) applications.
  • Collaborating with internal departments such as Sensors to design and implement software components for both new and existing advanced in-house systems, aimed at enhancing manufacturing efficiency and quality control. This involves troubleshooting and resolving existing technical issues, as well as innovating new features.
  • Writing, technical software documentation (e.g. user guides, design documents).
  • Keeping up to date with the latest developments in relevant technologies and methodologies.

Essential experience and competencies:

  • Degree qualified, in a STEM discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience designing medium-large scale applications involving hardware integration in LabVIEW.
  • Certified LabVIEW Architect (CLA).
  • 1+ years of experience working within a scrum framework as part of an agile implementation.
  • 1+ years of experience working with source code control, specifically Git.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Desirable Experience and Qualities:

  • Working knowledge of ultrasound.
  • Experience working with motion control systems.
  • Experience working with National Instruments (NI) hardware.
  • Working within a leadership capacity.
  • Working within a quality management system and to health & safety standards.
