Bennett and game are recruiting for our client in Surrey that operate within the Civil Engineering sector, both commercially and in bespoke domestic projects and in agricultural groundworks. The Assistant Estimator / Engineer will be assisting the running of fast paced projects as part of a Highways framework and ground works projects values up to £800,000.

The Assistant Estimator / Engineer will be working closely with Senior Quantity Surveyors and Project Managers the role will be Office based with some site visits so the candidate will have to hold a UK Driving licence. The ideal candidate will have good knowledge of the construction and Civil Engineering with experience of preparing project documentation, H&S packs, contracts and performing take- offs.

Assistant Estimator / Engineer Job Overview
  • Obtaining Cost Information (estimating data, quotations etc.)
  • Establishing valuation dates, submitting cost value reconciliations
  • Working closely with the Senior Quantity Surveyor assisting with Measure offs and CVRs.
  • Performing take -offs
  • Visiting sites for both valuations & project progress
  • Scheduling operative's weekly allocations
  • Assisting Project Management Team, JCT / Contract administration & review
  • Compiling project packs consisting of RAMS & B of Q's, general project information
Assistant Estimator / Engineer Job Requirements
  • Qualifications in a Construction or Civil Engineering discipline (/NVQ / HND/ HNC/ Degree)
  • Experience in a Commercial role
  • Excellent attention to detail, able to gather, interpret and present data to facilitate the preparation of budgets and subsequent valuations
  • Knowledge of groundworks / Highways or general Civil Engineering environment
  • Knowledge of PSI's
  • The ability to contribute towards the resolution of disputes, problems, and cost issues
  • Communication skills, the ability to build effective working relationships both internally and externally
  • Ability to read drawings/ take offs, project programming
  • A good knowledge and ability to work in a varied construction business
  • Excel & good I.T. skills preferable
  • UK Driving Licence
