A leading multidisciplinary consultancy, specialising in areas such as masterplanning, urban design, landscape architecture, environmental assessments, ecology, arboriculture, and green infrastructure, is looking for a passionate Ornithologist to join their Dorking team.

Ornithologist Responsibilities:

As an Ornithologist, you will work closely with Ecologists, Landscape Architects, and Design Planners. Your role will include:

  • Leading and conducting ornithological surveys
  • Collecting and analysing data, conducting desk-based research, and preparing technical reports
  • Experience with Ecological Impact Assessments and Shadow Habitats Regulations Assessments is advantageous
  • Supporting additional ecological surveys, such as those for water voles, otters, badgers, bats, and various habitats
  • Providing ecological and ornithological advice to clients, stakeholders, and project teams
  • Mentoring colleagues interested in ornithology, supporting their professional development
  • Building and maintaining relationships with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies

Ornithologist Requirements

  • A degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field
  • Strong bird identification skills and experience with ornithological survey techniques
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
