Role Overview: The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and cost-effective operation of manufacturing processes while maintaining high standards of quality. This role involves working closely with production teams, providing technical expertise, troubleshooting, and implementing process improvements to enhance operational performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process Optimization:Identify and implement improvements in manufacturing processes to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and ensure the highest quality standards.
- Technical Support:Provide day-to-day engineering support to production teams to resolve any technical issues or challenges that arise during manufacturing.
- Design for Manufacturability (DFM):Collaborate with product design teams to ensure new designs are optimized for efficient manufacturing.
- Equipment Maintenance & Upgrades:Ensure that production equipment is maintained and updated regularly to meet operational needs. Identify areas for improvement in equipment and propose solutions.
- Cost Control:Analyze production costs and implement cost-saving initiatives while maintaining product quality and safety.
- Lean Manufacturing:Apply lean principles to improve workflow, reduce cycle times, and improve overall manufacturing efficiency.
- Safety and Compliance:Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies in all manufacturing processes.
- Documentation and Reporting:Maintain accurate records of manufacturing processes, improvements, and equipment performance. Prepare reports for management regarding key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:Work closely with other departments, including design, quality control, and production, to resolve issues and implement improvements.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience (3+ years) in a manufacturing engineering role, preferably in a high-precision or regulated industry.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, including CNC machining, assembly, and automation.
- Experience with Lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies (Six Sigma, Kaizen, etc.).
- Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc.) and ERP systems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations in manufacturing settings.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Experience with process automation or robotics.
- Experience in the automotive, aerospace, or medical device sectors.
- Lean Six Sigma certification.
