Migrant Help are looking for a bright and enthusiastic Business Development Manager – Bids & Tenders to join ourgrowing income team on a full time, permanent contract. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £40,563 per annum.

This is a home-based role.

The Business Development Manager role:

This new role offers a fantastic opportunity to make a tangible impact. As the Business Development Manager, Bids & Tenders, you will be responsible for all aspects of securing bids & tenders, including developing, managing and overseeing the application process for high value statutory proposals generating long-term, mutually beneficial partnerships and delivering income aligned to our strategic priorities.

This role will work closely with the Head of Income & Partnerships to source bid, tenders and contracts from statutory organisations and local authorities for a range of key services and projects that improve the lives of our clients. Our team sits within the Strategy & Engagement directorate and works closely with our strategic programmes and front-line services teams across the charity.

Key responsibilities of our Business Development Manager:

  • Work with the Head of Income & Partnerships to identify and manage a strategic portfolio of bids and tender opportunities to source funding for current and new services and projects.
  • Strategically manage and monitor a pipeline of funding opportunities from local authorities and statutory commissioners.
  • Project manage the end to end delivery of the bid process, ensuring applications meet required timescales, commissioner requirements and are delivered to a high standard.
  • Lead and manage the existing bid team to produce high quality, compelling and persuasive written content for all bids and tender applications and proposals.
  • Analyse bid proposal requirements and ensure they meet the prescribed specifications.
  • Work with the Client Voice team and Operational teams to support the design and delivery of our services.
  • Lead on navigating “bid”/”no bid” decision-making and appropriate authorisation of bid decisions in accordance with our delegated authority levels and organisational procedures.
  • Ensure accurate research and scoping is completed and incorporated into bids.
  • Manage and coordinate key stakeholders and relevant subject matter experts to design and shape high quality information to produce bids and tenders collateral.
  • Proactively reach out to potential commissioners and funders to discuss future requirements.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with key funders, commissioners, and partners, including attending relevant networking events.
  • Manage accurate records of funding applications, evaluation, and impact reports to ensure all bids & tender conditions are met, including financial reporting and monitoring.
  • Gather feedback from bids to drive improvements.
  • Support the operational teams to initiate the mobilisation of newly won business.

Skills and experience we are looking for in our Business Development Manager:

  • Demonstrable experience in strong and successful proposal, bid, and tender writing for work with a value greater than £5million per annum, or equivalent experience.
  • Experienced in conveying difficult or complex ideas or concepts in a clear and engaging manner.
  • Experience liaising and building relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience in applying project management methodologies and delivering to agreed timescales.
  • An exceptional writer with proven experience writing content for tenders and business proposals.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage a complex workload and prioritise effectively, and be process driven with strong attention to detail.

What else to expect:

  • This is a home-based role, however, there may be occasions where travel for meetings or training is required.
  • The team operates Monday to Friday between the hours of 9am and 5pm. There may be occasions when you need to work outside of your contracted hours with prior arrangements.
