Migrant Help are currently looking for an Information Security Officer to join our expanding and dedicated IT & Data departmenton a full-time, permanent basis. In return you will receive a competitive salary of £37,500 - £40,500 depending on experience.

This is a home-based role (with travel to regional offices).

The Information Security Officer role:

Working within our IT & Data department, you will play a vital role in providing technical support across the organisation to progress the Migrant Help Strategy of 2024-29 and thereafter. Due to our growth as an organisation and the decision made for IT & Data to take more responsibility for internal systems, multiple technical resources have been approved to help support our colleagues achieve successful outcomes for our clients. Working closely with the Head of IT and commercial teams, you will continually seek ways and opportunities to improve the service provided to our staff and clients.

Key responsibilities of our Information Security Officer:

  • Conducting risk assessments, to Identify and evaluate security risks and vulnerabilities in MH IT systems.
  • Developing and implementing security policies, protocols, and procedures.
  • Responding to security breaches and incidents, conducting investigations, and implementing corrective actions.
  • Conducting regular security audits and assessments to ensure the effectiveness of current security measures and identify any gaps or areas for improvement.
  • Advising clients on security improvements and new technologies to enhance their organisation resilience to potential threats.
  • Produce reports for the Information Governance / ISMS Group (IG/ISMS), Information Asset Owners (IAOs) and the Senior Information Risk Owner (SIRO) as required.
  • Ensuring that MH IT systems comply with relevant laws, regulations and standards.
  • Supporting training and awareness programs for MH employees on security best practices.
  • Maintain currency with emerging security trends, risks, new guidance or standards (internal and external) and security enhancing technologies.

Skills and experience we are looking for in our Information Security Officer:

  • Relevant qualifications as outlined in the job description
  • Proficiency in network security, firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and encryption technologies.
  • Familiarity with relevant laws, regulations, and standards such as GDPR, HIPAA, and ISO/IEC 27001.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey security concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experienced in responding to and managing security incidents, including conducting investigations and implementing corrective actions.

  • Due to the nature of this role, you will operate on a hybrid basis with a good mix of at-home and office working with regular travel required.
