Role and responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain the Asbestos Management Plan
  • Plan and manage asbestos surveys and inspections
  • Maintain and update the Asbestos Register
  • Appoint Licensed Asbestos Removal Contractors to undertake removal and/or remedial works, and to undertake surveys and periodic inspections
  • Technical oversight and supervision of project works
  • Prepare training material and provide training to staff and stakeholders
  • Promote H&S initiatives and act as an internal H&S Engineering advisor
  • Drive improvements in processes to reduce health and safety risks
  • Liaise with stakeholders to ensure engagement and commitment
  • Review RAMS, and undertake site inspections to identify opportunities
  • Recommend improvements to engineering tasks

Skills, know-how and experience required:

  • Technical, construction, building or trade background
  • Qualified in P405 Management of Asbestos in Buildings
  • Relevant H&S management qualification e.g. IOSH, NEBOSH, SMSTS or similar
  • Conversant with the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 and Health & Safety Guidance (HSG) publications applicable to Asbestos
  • Understanding of Risk Management and compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental standards, along with working knowledge of CDM 2015
