- Prepare and process import/export documentation, such as declarations and clearance notifications.
- Customs import/export entry checking.
- Manage enquiries such as customs procedures, tariff classification, duty rates and other documentation in a timely and efficient manner.
- Be the first point of contact for customers, both face-to-face, over the phone or email.
- Liaise with customers, importers/exporters and others acquiring mandatory information for the import/export declarations.
- Manage customer queries regarding live declarations.
- Ensure all data is protected on all systems.
- Upload and maintain data accuracy on the in-house monitoring system.
- Provide support to all customers whilst ensuring compliance with all the requirements of HMRC and other relevant bodies.
- Previous experience within customs is preferred.
- Experience in using a customs software.
- Understanding of road transport, logistics and haulage desirable.
- Have a good understanding of law/regulations surrounding customs clearance requirements.
- Ability to communicate politely and effectively with a variety of people internally and externally.
- Good IT skills and confident using any computer equipment.
- Analytical and logical problem-solving.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Working hours are 7.00 pm – 7.00 am, 12-hour shifts working 4 on/4 off.
