We are seeking a dedicated Pastoral Leader to join a thriving school in Dover. As a key member of the House Pastoral Team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day welfare and well-being of students, ensuring a supportive and nurturing environment that promotes personal and academic development.

Job Purpose

As a Pastoral Leader, you will oversee the operational responsibilities of an allocated House, supporting students' welfare and progress. You'll work closely with the Housemaster/Housemistress and other staff to ensure that students receive the guidance and care they need to thrive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Housemaster/Housemistress on student welfare matters, acting independently when needed.
  • Supervise students during school hours, ensuring punctuality, good behaviour, and overall well-being.
  • Provide individual student support and manage any disputes or issues.
  • Support tutors and House Parents in monitoring academic and behavioural progress, liaising with teachers and staff as necessary.
  • Administer basic first aid and medication, referring students to the Medical Centre when required.
  • Accompany students on appointments and supervise meal times as per House requirements.
  • Assist in organising House activities, including social and sporting events.
  • Ensure compliance with School policies and National Minimum Boarding Standards.
  • Carry out cleaning and laundry routines, as well as deep cleaning when needed.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Attend training and stay up to date with current legislation relevant to your role.
  • Ensure the health, safety, and welfare of all staff and students you interact with.
  • Promote equal opportunities awareness, adhering to the school's Equal Opportunities policy.
  • Take responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people in your care.

What We're Looking For

  • A compassionate, organised individual with experience in student welfare.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Previous experience in pastoral care or working with young people is desirable.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and health and safety protocols.
