We are seeking a dedicated Year 5/6 Teacher to join our team at our school. This role is ideal for a compassionate educator who is committed to providing high-quality education and support to students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The successful candidate will foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes students’ academic, social, and emotional development.

Day-to-day of the role:

Teaching and Learning:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons tailored to the diverse needs of Year 5/6 students with SEMH needs.
  • Utilise a variety of teaching strategies and resources to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
  • Assess, record, and report on the development, progress, and attainment of students.

Classroom Management:

  • Create a safe, supportive, and stimulating classroom environment.
  • Implement effective behaviour management strategies to promote positive behaviour and address challenging behaviours.
  • Foster a culture of respect, inclusion, and high expectations.

Pastoral Care:

  • Provide emotional and social support to students, helping them develop resilience and coping skills.
  • Work closely with the school’s pastoral team to address students’ SEMH needs.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, carers, and external agencies to support students’ well-being.

Professional Development:

  • Participate in ongoing professional development to enhance teaching skills and knowledge of SEMH.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and develop innovative teaching approaches.
  • Stay informed about current educational research and developments in SEMH.

Administrative Duties:

  • Maintain accurate records of students’ progress and behaviour.
  • Prepare reports and attend meetings as required.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of school policies and procedures.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Experience teaching primary-aged children, preferably in a SEMH or special education setting.
  • Strong understanding of SEMH needs and effective strategies to support students.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and reflective practice.
