We are seeking a skilled and experienced CNC Section Team Leader to manage our growing machine shop team. This role involves programming, setting, and operating machining centers to produce high-quality parts to specification, as well as leading the department to achieve production goals. Working within our busy Draycott workshop, you’ll program with Mastercam CAD/CAM software, set up Haas, Doosan, and Star machines, and run high-quality parts. Key responsibilities include:

  • Interpreting technical drawings to produce parts accurately to specification
  • Operating multiple machines where feasible to maximize efficiency
  • Collaborating with the Mechanical Design Team to optimize part costs, complexity, tooling, and machining time
  • Implementing productivity improvements to enhance output
  • Supervising shop floor activities across 10 machining centers and coordinating with supporting departments

As a CNC Section Team Leader, you will play a critical role in our Operational Management Team, providing leadership in production, continuous improvement, and planning.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Providing support to the Milling and Turning sections
  • Managing tooling levels and specifying new tooling as needed
  • Ensuring coolant quality and safety with regular testing
  • Coordinating with the Production Planner to prioritize machining orders for efficient operations
  • Fostering a continuous improvement culture within the department
  • Maximizing machine efficiency and utilization
  • Upholding company quality standards and procedures
  • Training and developing new and existing team members
  • Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety and Environmental requirements
  • Addressing departmental issues through corrective action

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience Required:

  • Relevant engineering qualification (preferred)
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in CNC Milling and CNC Turning (essential)
  • Experience in offline or partial offline programming with CAD/CAM software, including Mastercam (essential)
  • Proficiency in setting and operating CNC vertical machining centers and lathe centers
  • Experience with Star sliding head machines
  • Familiarity with Haas control systems (training provided)
  • Strong organizational, management, and planning skills
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels
