As a key member of the Finance Team, you will focus on implementing robust financial controls and processes that will drive operational efficiency and support business growth internationally. You will collaborate closely with operational budget holders and commercial teams, ensuring financial strategies are aligned with business objectives and customer contracts are optimized for maximum profitability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement Financial Processes & Controls: Establish and maintain robust financial processes and controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance across all financial operations.
  • Lead Operational Financial Management: Partner with operational budget holders across the business to provide financial insights that drive decision-making, cost efficiencies, and resource allocation.
  • Commercial Financial Focus: Work closely with the commercial team to analyse financial data and identify opportunities for improving customer contracts. Focus on optimizing terms and conditions to enhance profitability, support sustainable business growth, and identify new avenues for expansion.
  • Monthly Reporting & Board Packs: Lead the preparation and presentation of monthly financial reports, including budgeting and forecasting, with clear insights for the Board. Present findings that help drive strategic decision-making.
  • Financial Risk Management: Ensure the identification and management of financial risks across operations, providing actionable solutions to minimize exposure.
  • End-to-End Audit Management: Oversee the audit process, acting as the primary point of contact for external auditors, and ensure full compliance with statutory accounting requirements.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Lead and mentor a high-performing finance team, fostering an environment of continuous improvement, personal development, and operational excellence.
  • Operational Excellence: Work cross-functionally with different departments to improve overall business performance, continuously improving financial and operational processes.

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA).
  • Strong experience in Financial Reporting and Management Accounting, including UK GAAP/IFRS.
  • Proven track record of Business Partnering with operational teams, providing actionable financial insights that impact decision-making and cost control.
  • Strong Analytical Skills with the ability to translate complex financial data into clear insights for non-financial stakeholders.
  • In-depth understanding of financial controls, process improvement, and risk management.
  • Experience in a startup/SME environment, particularly one with a focus on scaling operations and improving financial performance is desirable
