LTi Metaltech specialises in the precision fabrication and welding of high performance vessels and structures for use in demanding industrial applications, from cryogenic pressure vessels to high tech industrial furnaces, and nuclear waste containers.

We have an opportunity for a Process Engineer to join our Engineering Department to play a crucial role in enhancing the company’s manufacturing capabilities, driving innovation, and being responsible for introducing and implementing new products and processes.

KEY TASKS

  • Process Development, Design & Change Implementation – Implement, design, and improve manufacturing processes to enhance standard times, repeatability, and scalability. Lead process changes from concept through to full implementation, ensuring smooth adoption while minimising operational disruptions.
  • Technology & Process Innovation (Industry 4.0, Fabrication & Automation) – Identify, evaluate, and implement new manufacturing technologies, automation solutions, and advanced fabrication techniques, including cutting, welding, and forming. Drive technology adoption in alignment with the company’s Technology Roadmap while managing change effectively across production environments.
  • Project Planning & Change Management – Develop structured project plans for process improvements, new product introduction (NPI), and technology implementation. Ensure projects are executed within scope, timeline, and budget while managing stakeholder expectations and overcoming resistance to change.
  • Engineering Specifications & Technical Communication – Define technical requirements for production tooling, jigs, and fixtures, ensuring they meet process and production needs. Work closely with internal designers or external subcontractors to deliver the required solutions. Maintain clear documentation to support seamless implementation.
  • Process Validation & Risk Reduction – Validate new and modified processes to ensure they meet quality, performance, and production requirements. Identify and mitigate risks related to process capability, repeatability, and manufacturability. Ensure smooth handover from development to production with minimal disruption.
  • Sustainability & Efficiency – Identify and implement process improvements that reduce material waste, improve energy efficiency, and align with sustainability initiatives. Manage the change impact of these improvements on existing production workflows.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration & NPI Support – Work closely with Production, Quality Assurance, and Procurement teams to ensure smooth process implementation. Act as a key technical liaison with customers on NPI projects, ensuring their requirements are met while managing the transition from development to full-scale production.
  • Documentation, Training & Knowledge Sharing – Develop and maintain comprehensive process documentation, including design records, specifications, calculations, and validation reports. Provide training and support to ensure smooth adoption of process changes across teams.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, time-served apprenticeship, or equivalent qualification/experience.
  • Strong project engineering skills, with the ability to manage projects from concept to implementation, involving customers, internal teams, and suppliers.
  • Experience in designing tooling, jigs, and fixtures, with the ability to create engineering specifications.

DESIRABLE SKILLS

  • Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams and clients.
  • Experience in sheet metal processes and knowledge of regulatory requirements for the pressure vessel industry.
  • Ability to work independently while being an active team contributor.
  • Knowledge of welding, fabrication, and metal forming techniques.
