LTi Metaltechspecialises in the precision fabrication and welding of high performance vessels and structures for use in demanding industrial applications, from cryogenic pressure vessels to high tech industrial furnaces, and nuclear waste containers.
We have an opportunity for a Welding Engineer to join our Engineering Department to define, develop & implement robust & repeatable welded joint procedures & processes that meet customer and regulatory requirements, ensuring continuous improvement in order to optimise our manufacturing business.
KEY TASKS
- Defining robust & repeatable; manual, semi-automated & fully automated welding procedures and processes that meet the customer & regulatory requirements.
- Reviewing and analysing existing welding methods and procedures.
- Application of various inspection and analysis methodologies, e.g. radiography, sectioning, process FMEA, risk assessments.
- Fault diagnosis and resolution.
- Developing new welding processes to increase our production capabilities. - E.g. welding procedures (WPS) to optimise manufacturing methods with consideration of process flow methods and flexibility, including any associated tooling.
- Generating welding solutions and implement from initial prototypes through pre-production in to full volume production.
- Ensuring all welding equipment is fit for purpose.
- Implementation of calibration and maintenance schedules for all welding equipment.
- Defining and recommending welding equipment.
- Keeping up-to-date with the latest welding techniques and joint technology.
- Actively seek and consider new joining technologies to improve our production capabilities.
- Develop new processes and methods that successfully embed latest welding technologies.
- Co-ordinating welder qualifications, ensuring welders are appropriately qualified against the procedures.
- Mentoring others in order to grow our technical capabilities, imparting knowledge and experience to team members.
- Perform necessary process validations and other quality system documentation requirements to support new product introduction and development.
- Work in accordance with Company Quality Standards, procedures and processes and comply with the regulatory requirements of AD Merkblatt, PD5500 and EN13445.
- To support the Engineering department on non-project related tasks, as and when required.
