HGV Class 1driver, multi-drop delivering to high street stores

Yorkshire Trading Company are a growing family owned and run business with a Head Office and Distribution Centre based in Driffield East Yorkshire. We have 35 stores throughout Yorkshire, Lincolnshire & the North East.
As a result of continued expansion; we are looking to recruit a HGV Driver to join our store delivery team 3 or 4 days a week. The contract is usually Monday to Friday and will include availability to cover Sunday deliveries on a rota basis. You will also be required to cover any holidays.

A normal day would usually involve an early start typically leaving our site between 1am & 3am. You would arrive at the first store for 5am where our friendly store colleagues will be ready to assist you with offloading the pallets and cages and reloading your vehicle with the empty pallets, cages and recyclable salvage. This will usually be repeated at a further 2 to 4 stores on each delivery run. You would normally expect to finish the delivery run between 10.00 & 14.00 each day.

Additional shifts are available in peak periods especially over Summer to cover holiday absence. As our expansion continues there is a genuine potential to increase to a full-time position if desired.

You will not be required to work Nights Out.

On occasion you will be asked to call at a suppliers premises on your route to collect supplier orders on a back load.
We operate a 2021 plate fleet using 2021 Truck of the Year MAN TGX tractor units, newly updated Double-Deck trailers and motorised pallet trucks.
Each driver usually takes regular routes over a 2 week cycle but will be required to cover other routes during holiday cover.

Essential Skills
o Current Category C+E HGV Driving License.
o Digital Tachograph Card.
o Driver CPC

Newly qualified or young drivers will be considered.

Desirable Skills
- Experience of making deliveries to retail stores in busy high street locations.
- Experience in using tail lift and securing loads. (training will be given)
