GMP Recruitment are proud to partner an independent Commercial Transport and Logistics company located in Droitwich. We are recruiting an experienced HGV Mechanic/Technician to join their team on a full time, permanent contract.

This position has working hours:

Early shift 06:00 hrs until 14:30 hrs (30 minutes for lunch unpaid)

Late shift: 12:00 hrs until 20:30 hrs (30 minutes for lunch unpaid).

You are required to work every second Saturday Morning, 07.00am - 12.00 midday.

You will be required to perform a variety of skilled mechanical and other tasks on Company vehicles and other related tasks as required, ensuring these are conducted in a safe and responsible manner according to Health & Safety Legislation and DVSA Regulations.

HGV Mechanic/Technician main duties:

  • You are to ensure that any risk of accident or injury is reduced to a minimum and that any accident or injury that does occur is reported.
  • You will be required to attend any refresher or training course to ensure your knowledge is kept up to date.
  • All paperwork relating to the vehicles should be processed following Company procedure.
  • All road tests must be done competently and safely, only employees with the correct class of licence for vehicle being road tested can do this.
  • You will carry out periodic safety checks, servicing, and repairs on our range of vehicles.
  • Confirm instructions before commencing work on any vehicle to ensure you are fully informed as to what type of work is required or what repairs are to be undertaken. If additional work is needed, you should report this to the Supervisor and/or Traffic Office.
  • All parts fitted from the job list and the parts stock must be recorded on the job card.
  • Service vehicles and perform repairs and overhauls on all types of vehicles and trailers.
  • Repair, install, replace a range of components on our vehicle fleet.
  • Undertake minor welding repairs
  • Prepare and present vehicles and trailers for annual test.
  • Change tyres and re cut as required
  • Diagnose and carry out repairs as required.

HGV Mechanic/Technician required skills and experience:

  • Experienced HGV/LGV Mechanic/Technician or relevant gained education.
  • Experience working with Mercedes LGV and HGV vehicles an advantage.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to problem solve.
  • Highly organised approach with attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work to deadlines.
